Fifth international congress - Progress in bioengineering and the vascular endothelium: basic and clinical aspects

Date:
10/13/2004 - 10/14/2004
Venue:
Pisa (Italy)

The tradition continues Dear Colleague, please receive the program of the fifth International Congress 'PROGRESS IN BIOENGINEERING AND VASCULAR ENDOTHELIUM: BASIC AND CLINICAL ASPECTS' and the eighth International Congress 'ADVANCES IN MANAGEMENT OF MALIGNANCIES'. If you participated in the previous meetings or received their program you can note that in this edition the principal scientific and organizing characteristics are maintained. In fact the program intends to stimulate research and clinical progress in important medical social fields with a multidisciplinary approach. Once more the program originates from an international aggregation of researchers made of familiar and new colleagues. To better achieve this aim, we emphasize the example of a colleague who was a leader in his professional and scientific field. This year the cancer meeting is dedicated to Dr. Torsten Löwagen who gave an important contribution to the progress of medical science and profession. His genuine passion for his job, his great teaching ability and his strong personality permitted him to create an excellent 'family' of physicians and researchers who are active in many countries over the world. I had the opportunity to learn from him and I hope that this meeting will be useful to enlarge this special 'family'. Progress in bioengineering and the vascular endothelium Page 4 of 6 http://www.fondazione-menarini.it/eng/congressi/archive/program46.htm 30/04/2012 Within the tradition of these meetings are the patronage of the Italian Association of Nuclear Medicine and the support of the Menarini International Foundation which continue since 1988 as well as the presence of the Volunteer associations of San Romano as local organizers. In this congress edition the multidisciplinary approach is particularly emphasised because the event will follow the meeting of the Italian Society for Biomaterials (SIB-GIB , October 11-13 , same place). I really hope that the topics here presented and the friendly atmosphere in which we intend to discuss them 'as usually', will stimulate your participation, not only in the meeting, but also in specific collaborative research projects.

Sincerely, Angelo Carpi
